MSM - (A derivative of DMSO) MSM was present in the food chain long before growing plants existed. Originally from plankton, MSM is responsible for most sulfur used as food by plants and hence animals. It is a macronutrient in the vertebrate diet. Given to dogs with air-borne allergies, respiratory problems, mold, pollen or dust allergies. Thought to increase circulation. Thus, may help in bone and joint problems. Studies have shown that MSM helps to eliminate worms and parasites from the body by interfering with the parasites ability to attach itself to the intestinal wall. MSM brings oxygen to the area. Alzheimers patients have benefitted. It relaxes the walls of the arteries thus allowing more healing oxygen to the tissues. Excellent for the older dog. Very economical. White powder may be dissolved in warm water and poured over or mixed with food. Use 1/8 tsp. per 30 lbs. twice daily for first week then reduce to 1/8 tsp. once daily. For animals under 30 lbs. use 1/8 tsp. twice a week. Used along with Ear Care with Comfrey for dogs with ear infections. MSM is taken internally.
